Dissemination of Research Output: Promotion Program for Strategic Innovation Development (S-Innova)

Development of Manufacturing Process for Flexible Organic Electro Luminescence Illumination Device by Printing

The objective of this project is to develop high-efficiency and long-life white-light organic electro luminescence (OEL) illumination that replaces incandescent lamp or fluorescence light. Actual endeavors toward that end include development of printable/paintable high-efficiency phosphorescent materials, development of hole/electron transfer materials compatible with printing/painting process to support high-efficiency/long-life device characteristics, development of material insolubilization/solubility control technology that realizes multi-layer multi-photon structure, process improvement of large-area thin-film printing process, and process precision- and process speed- improvement of printing process, etc. The endeavors also include the feasibility studies on the roll-to-roll printing process and investigation on super-barrier film substrate construction.
