Nikkei newspapers (p.39, in Tohoku area version) published an article entitled “Cost of IC tag will be reduced into 1 twentieth through the new technology by Yamagata University”. The newspapers reported that Prof. Shizuo Tokitou and his research team in ROEL will take a lead in developing the technology to produce Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag, an IC tag for logistics management, with very low cost. By making a contract for collaborative research with SATO Holdings Corporation (a company dealing with the automatic identification system), the research team tries to reduce the production cost drastically by directly printing the high frequency circuit that configures the tag into the board itself.
