Yamagata newspapers on May 9 published an article entitled “Yamagata University develops a research development center in Yonezawa in summer of 2013 to make a longer life for lithium-ion battery and to establish the technology for mass production.” Yamagata University develops “Research Center for Storage device (Tentative),” in Yonezawa in order to make a life of lithium-ion battery longer and to produce the batteries in low cost. The center performs the experiment to establish the technology for the mass production of a new model of separator, hoping to confirm the technology in next 5 years. Mr. Oba, the chief of this center, thinks that he will try to reduce the production cost, to improve the performance of the lithium-ion battery, and to use it for 10 years or longer.
