{Finished} The 31st ROEL Lecture Session was held.

Time/Date

June 6 (Wed)

Location

Conference room on 4th floor in Research Center for Organic Electronics

Lecturer

Prof. Katsumi Tokumaru, who is the professor emeritus of University of Tsukuba and the guest researcher of Flexible Electronics Research Center in National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST)

Subject

The primary theme for phosphorescent materials in normal temperature: Factors of enhancing the light-emitting efficiency of phosphorescence

The phosphorescent materials in normal temperature, including transition metals, have been used as light-emitting materials of electroluminescence for more than 10 years, and some other phosphorescent materials have been researched and developed.
In this lecture, the following themes will be discussed by returning to the basics: Under what conditions is the phosphorescence most efficiently emitted?, In what circumstances, so-called normal organic compounds, excluding noble metals, most efficiently emit the phosphorescence in normal temperature?, and How much is the nature of Ir (ppy)3 understood, which was reported in 1985 and has been frequently used for electroluminescence since 1999?
Furthermore, the factors of lowering the light-emitting efficiency because of the device operation errors, in which the cause is not completely understood, will be discussed.
