【Press Release】 Printing OLED Devices, Yamagata University "Reduce Power Consumption to 1/100" / Sep. 11, Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun

The research group of Prof. Kido, Distinguished Research Professor of Research Center for Organic Electronics (ROEL) has successfully developed the technique to manufacture the OLED devices with printing processes, except for electronodes.

Although the conventional vacuum deposition process carried out in the high-vacuum environment costs a lot since the process needs much electricity, the printing process will enable to reduce the power consumption to 1/100. Within three years, they will develop the technique to manufacture all the parts of OLED devices including electronodes with printing processes, and lower the production cost because no vacuum deposition machine will be needed. Therefore they will be able to produce OLED devices in large quantities.
