Title: Regulation of the electronic structures of triphenylene-based sky-blue TADF emitters by chemical modification for realizing high efficiency with shorter emission lifetimes

Abstract: For realizing efficient blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters, chemically modified triphenylene derivatives are attractive candidates for acceptor units because of the rigid structure and high triplet energy (2.9 eV). Nonetheless, only a limited number of emitters with low external quantum efficiency (EQE) below 10% have been reported to date. In this study, we developed three types of blue TADF emitters based on modified triphenylene acceptor units. These emitters exhibited sky-blue emission with an emission peak wavelength of ~470 nm, a high photoluminescent quantum yield of ~88%, and a short delayed lifetime of ~7.7 μs. Based on these emitters, an efficient sky-blue organic light-emitting device with a high EQE over 20% is realized.
